Utility Models

Proceedings of utility model applications are held in accordance with the Law No. 478/1992 Coll. about utility models. The registration of the utility model is performed on the registration principle. Under the Slovak patent law, it is possible to convert a patent application to a utility model application, at the applicant’s option.

The validity of the utility models is 4 years from the filing date, and it can be two times prolonged by 3 years.

Further services in the area of the utility models provided by our office include the following:

• preparation and filing utility model applications in case of conversion of the patent application

• preparation and filing proposals for the utility model determination or annulment

• answering proposals for the utility model determination or annulment

• preparation and filing of appeals against decisions of the Patent Office

• continuing monitoring of the legal status of protected solutions including maintenance of validity of protection.
