Designs

Proceedings of designs are held according to the Law no. 444/2002 about designs.

For the design application filing the following documents are required:

For registration of one design:

• the applicant’s and inventor’s names, their addresses

• the determination of the product into which the design is embodied or on which it is applied

• a pictorial representation of the design in views allowing for a clear determination of the design’s principles

• a document confirming acquisition of the rights to the design if the applicant is not the design’s author

• the power of attorney

For registration of more than one design:

• the data concerning the applicant and the author

• a list of designs to be registered

• a pictorial representation of the design belonging to one class in views allowing for a clear determination of the designs’ principles

• a document confirming acquisition of the rights to the designs if the applicant is not the designs’ author

• the power of attorney

The validity of design protection is 5 years from the filing date. The protection’s validity can be extended for four consecutive times, every time by five years to giving the total protection of 25 years.
